Because of the work I was doing during my studies, I decided to join as a regular employee after graduating from college in 2014. I got more exposure to customers and companies that integrated our camera system into their machines, which gave me a comprehensive view of industrial automation as a programmer. I worked on projects under the supervision of an experienced and patient supervisor from whom I learned many things.

After two years as a regular programmer, in 2016 I got the opportunity to solve the SW of the whole project with only supervision. I was able to successfully manage the project and with that came the opportunity to move up to a higher position. Along with the higher responsibility and higher salary, I was assigned an older company car so that I could more promptly solve the assigned software integrations taking place primarily at the customer of the contract and then at the final customer of the entire machine. This allowed me greater insight into the entire supply chain and broadened my horizons in industrial automation including the components supplied.

With the growing number of orders, I was offered the position of project manager in 2020, where I experienced the entire process of camera system integration from specification of suitable camera components, ordering them, integrating them into the machine and together with the assigned programmer bringing the camera system SW to life at the customer’s site, testing and then participating in the handover of the machine to the final customer. Along with the formalities of promotion to a higher position, I was assigned a more presentable company car. Other varied projects followed, on which I learned a lot and was able to see operations in different parts of the country.

In 2022, I was given the opportunity to continue projects where customers asked us to refurbish an older machine whose mechanical part the customer wanted to keep and replace the existing camera system with our value-added camera system by expanding functionality and speed. Compared to the classic integration of the camera system into the existing machine, the refurbishment required a complete replacement of the electrical and pneumatic parts and a minor modification of the original mechanics, which required the involvement of other colleagues – an electrical designer, a designer, an electrician and a mechanic. This allowed me to learn how to work in a larger team, and coordinate their interaction, which was a real challenge.

Now I am working on the management of a project where our company is the general contractor of a completely new machine, including not only the electrical and pneumatic part but also the construction of the complete mechanics. The delivery of a completely new machine is the biggest challenge I have tackled professionally so far. With the help of my colleagues in a friendly team, everything is so far moving towards a successful completion and the prospect of further interesting projects.
